I’ve used the Øyo carbon steel knife for tasks from stripping bark, cutting rope, to carving small pieces of wood in damp conditions. The carbon steel takes a sharp edge and holds it well; when it starts dulling I can touch it up with a fine stone quickly. The finger guard in the plastic handle helps prevent my hand from slipping toward the blade when I’m cutting forcefully or in greasy or wet conditions.
At 121 g it feels solid without being cumbersome, 210 mm overall gives enough reach to work comfortably but still control the blade precisely. The plastic sheath is rugged, light, and secure. I often hang it in the workshop or clip it to my belt so it’s always there when needed. For care I dry it thoroughly after use, oil lightly to prevent rust, keep sheath clean and dry, and sharpen using oil stone or fine grit to preserve the carbon steel.
If you need a reliable “just gets the job done” tool, this is one durable, simple, effective, with safety built in. Many folks keep one in their glove box, toolkit, or cabin for emergencies.
