I find the Øyo Falketind Knife especially useful whenever I need a single dependable knife outdoors. The oxidised Sandvik 12C27 steel blade holds an edge well, resists wear, and is fairly easy to sharpen even in the field. Its 100 mm blade gives a good working length for slicing, chopping small branches, and preparing food. The total length of 220 mm gives leverage without being so big that it becomes awkward. The handle is made of G10 (or Micarta in some versions) which gives a secure grip even when wet, and the full-tang design adds strength and balance.
The leather sheath is solid and includes an adjustable belt strap, so I can carry it on my belt or hang it from pack without worry. For care I clean after use, dry thoroughly, oil the blade lightly now and then, and avoid leaving it in moisture.
I imagine sitting by a fire, using this knife to split wood, carve utensils, or slice meat it performs with confidence and durability. If you want a knife for heavy outdoor tasks rather than ultralight hikes, this one will serve you for years.
