I’ve been through many hunts and field dressings over decades. What I appreciate about the ØYO Dyranut 4-pcs set is that each knife is purpose built. The premium steel blades cut cleanly, retain edge, and are easier to sharpen when you’re out in rain or frost.
The handles are made of two-component plastic, molded without gaps to avoid places where bacteria or moisture could accumulate. The bright orange color helps find a dropped blade in underbrush. The Cordura folder keeps the knives protected, cleanable, and portable.
Each knife has its own role and size. The gutting knife, or belly opener, has a 90 mm blade with a total length of 225 mm. The skinning knife is larger with a 150 mm blade and 290 mm total length. For meat processing, the pointed meat knife carries a 140 mm blade and 280 mm total length, while the curved meat knife stretches to 155 mm on the blade with a total of 295 mm. Together they cover gutting, skinning, fine cutting and heavier meat trimming. The full set weighs 760 g, which is reasonable for a kit that replaces several individual knives.
I imagine gutting deer at first light, skinning a moose flank at midday, trimming meat in camp all four blades ready. This kit excels when you need versatility and hygiene in the field. If you want one, prep with a good sharpener, rinse and dry everything after use, and store dry to avoid corrosion.
