I have carried and used the Øyo Breakfast Wooden Plate on several backpacking trips and at rustic home breakfasts. The rubber wood construction gives a warm, organic texture and it feels pleasant against hands and lips, unlike cooler plastic or metal. At the same time the plate is sturdy enough for woods camp cooking, as long as one treats it with good care.
The leather cord is very practical. When I am moving between camps, I hang it from my pack or a branch so it dries after washing, keeps shape, and avoids mildew. The size 200 mm diameter, 19 mm height is just right for a hearty breakfast toast, fruit, a scramble. Not so large it takes up pack space or adds unnecessary weight, yet generous enough for full meals at home. The weight 208 g means you will feel it, but it is still light among wooden tableware. I avoid putting it in the dishwasher; hand wash, dry immediately, and occasionally rub food safe oil into the wood to prolong its life.
If you like natural table settings or need lighter gear for camping or hut to hut travel, this plate is a great pick. Stock tends to go quickly at some shops so ordering earlier is wise.
