A safe small blade made for youngsters learning outdoor skills.

This fixed-blade youth scout knife uses polished carbon steel and features a 112 mm blade with a blunt tip for extra safety. We recommend it for young scouts and outdoor learners, as it balances utility and protection. Its compact size, leather handle and simple sheath make it easy to carry and manage alike.

The Children’s Scout Knife (Lastenpartio) is designed to give young users a real tool that respects safety. It carries a softly rounded tip so novices can learn carving and camp tasks with less risk. When I first handled it, I was impressed by how the proportions suit small hands while retaining sufficient blade length for real use.

I trust this knife to teach basics without being a toy. The carbon steel blade takes a good edge but is forgiving under typical field conditions. Its leather handle and aluminum fittings bring tactile feedback and longevity. It is not built for heavy chopping or abuse, but for safe skills development and general camp use. Over time it may patina or show wear, but that becomes part of its learning story.

In my experience supervising youth use, the knife handles rope cutting, wood carving, food prep for small meals, and basic camp chores comfortably. If you care about giving a child a genuine, safe outdoor tool they can grow with, the Children’s Scout Knife is an ideal stepping stone.
