A three-layer stainless steel blank blade from Helle for DIY knife projects.

We have built many custom knives and know that a quality blade blank sets the foundation. The Helle Knife Blade Blank is a three-layer stainless steel blade used in the Helle Nying model. It has blade length 70 mm, total length 160 mm, weight about 45 g. It has a shiny (blank) finish.

This blade blank is perfect for anyone wanting to craft their own handle and finish. Not ready to use as a full knife since handle and sheath are not included.

I have examined this Helle blank on the workbench and appreciate its clean grind and steel construction. The three-layer stainless steel gives good corrosion resistance and sufficient strength, especially for lighter outdoor tasks or general use when properly handled. With blade length 70 mm and total length 160 mm you get a compact working edge yet enough tang to attach a solid handle. The approx 45 g weight makes it manageable for carry or crafting without unnecessary bulk.

Because this is a blank you will have to select your handle material, attach it securely, shape it to fit your needs and design or obtain a sheath. Finishing the blade polishing, sealant will help maintain the finish if exposed to moisture.
