It lasts up to 4 000 L of water over five years of drinking water for one person in emergency use.
Its benefit is simplicity and reliability: no batteries, no moving parts, very lightweight, easy to carry. Limitations: you must still pre-filter really dirty water, flow slows near end of filter life. In wet season rivers it works well; in dry dusty season expect more clogging (but still better than many).
