Description
I’ve found that what makes an EDC knife good is comfort, reliability, and pocketability. The Gerber Zilch gives a blade length of about 79 mm, with stone-washed 7Cr17MoV steel that balances ease of sharpening with decent edge retention. The drop-point blade shape is versatile for many tasks. The handles are GRN/GFN (glass-filled nylon or a similar composite) in lichen green, slim enough that the closed length of approximately 105 mm slips into pocket without adding bulk.
It uses a liner-lock to secure the blade in open position. Deployment can be via thumb stud or nail nick depending on user preference. There is a tip-up pocket clip for right-hand carry, plus a lanyard hole if you want to attach a cord. It weighs around 62 g, so you know you have something sturdy but not heavy.
