I’ve been using knives for over forty years and the StrongArm Camp line stands out because it takes the strengths of a survival fixed blade and scales them down into something lighter and more user-friendly around the campsite. The 420HC steel gives good hardness and takes a sharp edge easily, though it needs regular stropping or honing after tougher work to maintain that edge. The stonewashed finish helps hide scratches and resist corrosion to some degree.
The full tang means when I’ve used leverage (batoning or chopping small wood) it did not flex or feel like it might fail. The handle’s diamond texture grips well, even in damp or cold conditions. The sheath is multi-mount and MOLLE compatible, so I could mount it on my pack or belt in different orientations depending on what I was doing. The knife isn’t ultra light, but it strikes a good balance between weight and utility; you get strength without feeling you’re carrying a log.
If you use it for food prep around camp, wash and dry it soon after; 420HC isn’t stainless steel in the highest grades so moisture over long periods will result in spotting. Sharpen with the correct angle; the “high bevel” edge means there’s more steel behind the edge than on very thin slicing knives, but that adds durability. This kind of tool is one you’ll want with you for many seasons if treated right.
This is one to consider now if you do a lot of camping, bushcraft, or general outdoor work; folks buying it often remark they wish they had one on their last trip.
