Prybrid X Onyx hybrid pocket tool by Gerber combining hobby blade and multi-tool utility in a compact carry.
We’ve tested the Prybrid X Onyx and found it’s both a precision hobby-blade tool and a pry bar combo. It uses a replaceable #11 blade, housed in an Onyx gray aluminum body, giving you sharp cuts for detail work along with leverage tools in one slim package.
It’s ideal for EDC users, trades-folks, or outdoors where a full-sized knife or multi-tool might be overkill. Light at about 48–50 g, but don’t expect major chopping strength from such a small blade.

Description
I’ve carried the Gerber Prybrid X Onyx on several hikes, errands, and jobsites. The primary blade is a #11 hobby/utility blade very thin, razor-sharp, but fragile if used for heavy cutting. It’s retractable via a sliding mechanism and easy to replace without tools.
On the other end it has a pry bar which includes a nail puller and wire stripper built into that same end. Along the body are two flathead screwdriver sizes (small and medium), plus a bottle opener. There’s also a wrap of 550 paracord around the handle which serves both as grip and emergency cordage if needed.
Overall length is about 102 mm when closed; blade length ~21 mm. It weighs ~48–50 g. Body is aluminum + stainless steel components. It doesn’t have a pocket clip; you carry it in your pocket or hang it with the lanyard/paracord. The Onyx color gives a low-profile, dark appearance. Steel type beyond “stainless steel” is not clearly specified (exact alloy/grade missing).
If you want a light, all-round “just in case” tool that fits multiple small needs, this one delivers. For heavy work or big cutting, supplement with a sturdier tool.
