I have tested the Gerber Crucial extensively, both in everyday life and outdoors. The needlenose pliers and V-cut wire cutters work well for small to medium jobs, though hardened steel wire requires heavier gear. The blade is half serrated, half plain, and locks securely with a liner lock safe for controlled cutting. Other tools include flat and Phillips screwdrivers, a carabiner that doubles as a bottle opener, and on some versions, a strap cutter.
The steel handle in gray finish feels sturdy, though a bit hard on the hand with extended use. The Crucial folds down to just 92 mm, opens to about 140 mm, and weighs around 142 g. It clips easily into a pocket or attaches by carabiner, making it practical for hiking, camping, or EDC.
If you want a lightweight multitool with just the essentials, this is a solid pick. It won’t replace a full-size multi-plier for heavy tasks, but it covers daily carry needs well. I recommend picking one up while this version is available—Gerber’s color variants often sell out.
