I’ve used this knife around camp, doing food prep, opening boxes, cutting paracord, and even light feathering of wood. The 89 mm blade has good strength in the tip thanks to the tanto geometry, which resists flex when piercing tougher materials. The 7Cr17MoV steel offers decent corrosion resistance and is easy to sharpen.
The handle is mostly a silver anodized aluminum front scale with stainless back/frame parts. It’s thin, feels sleek, and carries comfortably in my pocket. The frame-lock gives secure lockup; I’ve never felt worry when using it. Deployment can be done via the thumb-hole or front flipper; both work well, though neither is super fast.
One limit is weight: at around 107 g it’s a bit heavier than ultra-slim carry knives. Also, the blade coating (black oxide) shows wear if used heavily. If you want something more rugged, you might want something with thicker steel or darker coatings.
If you like a knife with design, sufficient cutting ability, and style for both everyday tasks and occasional outdoor use, this Ayako Silver version is a solid pick. Order soon if you want one before stock disappears.
