Renowned Cudeman MT-5 survival knife with Böhler N695 steel, 110 mm blade and leather sheath.

We know a survival knife must combine toughness and utility, and the Cudeman MT-5 has earned its place as a trusted companion since 2012. Its 110 mm blade in Böhler N695 stainless steel is hardened for durability, paired with a cocobolo wood handle that feels warm and strong. A full tang build with satin A-304 fittings ensures stability in demanding use.

At 225 mm overall and 320 g, it is substantial but balanced, and the multifunctional leather sheath allows both vertical and horizontal carry, with adapters for flint and stone. The knife also includes a striker pommel and spear-mounting points for survival scenarios.

I’ve used similar full-featured survival knives when trekking, and the balance of blade control and sheath versatility always made camp work smoother.

I want a knife that can serve me in any outdoor challenge, and the Cudeman MT-5 delivers exactly that. The 110 mm Böhler N695 blade offers edge retention and toughness, hardened to 59/60 HRC. Its serrated spine “zipper” allows extra grip for fine cuts, while the full tang build provides strength for heavy batoning and chopping.

The cocobolo wood handle measures 115 mm and feels secure in hand, even during long use. At the end sits a striker pommel that doubles for hammering or emergency use. The blade and pommel both feature two mounting pins, making it possible to lash the knife into a spear with a safety tether a rare but valuable survival function.

The leather sheath carries high quality, fitted with belt loops and rivets for both vertical and horizontal wear. It also accommodates a sharpening stone and fire starter, ensuring preparedness in the field. At 225 mm overall length and 320 g, it offers strength without being excessive.

I can imagine pulling this from my belt after a long hike, striking sparks with the pommel to light a campfire. For anyone seeking a proven survival knife, the MT-5 is one of Cudeman’s most iconic and trusted designs.
