The Aito represents Iisakki Järvenpää’s purest form of Finnish knife design. Its high carbon steel blade is hardened to around 57–58 HRC, ensuring durability, edge retention, and easy sharpening. The blade length of approximately 85 mm and thickness near 3 mm make it suitable for a wide range of cutting and carving tasks. Its clean, unpolished finish highlights the knife’s functional purpose over ornamentation.
The handle is constructed from stacked birch bark, shaped for a natural and comfortable grip. Brass spacers and fittings reinforce the structure and add a subtle touch of elegance. The full tang design extends through the handle, improving balance and overall strength. The handle stays warm in cold conditions, providing consistent control even with wet or gloved hands.
A sturdy leather sheath with a plastic liner protects the blade and makes carrying secure and convenient. The D ring belt loop allows the sheath to swing freely for better comfort during movement. Regular cleaning, drying, and light oiling will preserve the knife’s longevity and prevent rust on the carbon steel. The Aito is both a practical field tool and a timeless example of Finnish craftsmanship.
