I have carried many pocket knives along trails during wet, muddy, or unpredictable conditions. The Opinel Trekking Red holds up because of its balance. The 85 mm stainless steel blade gives enough length for slicing, cutting wood, and food prep, yet is manageable for one-handed control. The Virobloc locking ring adds safety by firming the blade when open and preventing accidental openings when closed. The red painted beechwood handle offers a comfortable grip and is easy to spot in your pack, though the paint and wood need occasional care avoid soaking, and dry thoroughly after exposure to moisture.
With an overall length of 193 mm and weight about 50 g, it’s light for the size but feels substantial in hand. Perfect for trail camp, fishing stops, or everyday use in a bushcraft scenario. The blade’s steel resists rust well, making maintenance fairly easy, but sharpening stainless steel needs sharper stones or more effort than carbon blades.
I am comfortable recommending this knife for trekking, day hikes, bushcraft, or fishing when you want a reliable, no-nonsense tool. Order soon if you want one on your next adventure it’s a design that many pack and praise.
