I’ve tested this knife in bushcraft, camp-cooking, shelter building, and it held up well. The 7Cr17MoV steel gives decent corrosion resistance and edge retention for the price, though it won’t rival high-end tool steel. The half serrated edge helps with rope or fibrous material; straight portion does slicing well. The drop-point shape gives a good mix of strength and tip control.
Handle is rubber over-mold, non-slip even when wet or muddy. The hammer pommel lets you use it like a hammer-crowbar in pinch: tent stakes, hammering, etc. The emergency whistle built into the handle is a small but vital touch. The spine has a fire-striking edge; the sheath holds a ferrocerium rod for fire starting. Also included: a sharpener in the sheath so you can maintain the edge in the field. The sheath is MOLLE compatible and snaps securely.
If you are going on extended outdoor trips, in areas where you might need to set up shelter or start fires often, this knife is a strong companion. If you only do light day-hikes, it might be more than you need.
