Full-size Gerber multitool with 14 functions, one-hand opening pliers, and stainless steel build.

We know the value of a rugged multitool for demanding outdoor tasks. The Gerber MP600 Needlenose Basic is a full-size multitool built from stainless steel with patented one-hand opening pliers. It features 14 integrated tools including wire cutters, knife blades, screwdrivers, can opener, and more.

With a closed length of 127 mm and a weight of 255 g, it carries comfortably yet is strong enough for heavy-duty work.

I have carried full-size tools like this on long treks, where the ability to fix gear in the field without fumbling for separate tools is worth its weight.

I like the MP600 because it combines serious strength with practical design. The one-handed opening pliers are fast to deploy, even with gloves, and the stainless steel body holds up to years of use. At 127 mm closed, it fits neatly into its sheath or pack pocket, while the 255 g weight feels reassuring without being overbearing. The selection of 14 tools covers most tasks from tightening bolts to food prep.

Out in the woods, I imagine pulling this out after a long day to adjust a stove fitting or cut paracord for shelter building.

For those who need a dependable multitool for real use, the MP600 has proven itself over time. Stock does not sit long on such trusted classics, so I recommend securing one now.
