I have spent many nights out under shelter where a saw like this earns its place. The Gerber Bushcraft Saw gives you an 8-inch (≈ 200 mm) SK5 carbon steel blade with chrome plating for added corrosion resistance. The teeth are triple-ground and arranged in an offset pattern (Gerber calls it Sawtooth Tech) so every pull cuts smoothly, even through damp or tough wood.
The blade locks in two positions so when you are in awkward angles (pulling down or working over your head) you can adjust. The handle combines rubber grip with a solid locking mechanism (aluminum button) for safety and comfort. When folded, it becomes compact (≈ 250-260 mm closed) so it can pack into gear with less hassle. The included sheath is MOLLE- and belt-compatible and has a ferro rod loop, which is handy for fire starting or survival setups.
Limitations: the blade being SK5 means with heavy use you’ll need to sharpen regularly. It is not stainless steel, so rust can form if not dried/maintained. Also, weight is not featherlight so for ultra-minimalist hiking you’ll notice it.
If you need a dependable saw for bushcraft, firewood, emergency shelter, this is one of the more solid options I’ve tested. Better get one while stock lasts.
